Branco (orgs). Desemprego Urbano e sua
Face Rural. Curitiba: Editora CRV, 2012, p. 09-20; 45-55; 71-89.
In the early part of the book, the author presents some of the key drivers that triggered this mobility, which stands out among others, the need for arms to work in newly created agricultural enterprises, which gradually replaced the way of life of the indigenous population the socio-political changes that affected the structures of organized societies, and the need to replace the arms (hand labor) due to the decimation of workers by tropical diseases, inadequacies and other climatic factors.
Due to the migration of population from rural areas to the cities, there was a population imbalance that resulted in the shortage of labor in the primary sector (comprising from agriculture, livestock other activities that provide raw materials to other production sectors), and the overcrowding of skilled labor in the tertiary sector (industry, transport, and other services), whereas the availability of people to work in the tertiary sector often do not meet the needs of the labor market, whereas people leaving the countryside to the cities in most cases has no expertise to carry out such activities that the labor market offers. Another consequence of overcrowding is the urban sprawl of cities, expanding its area without any planning due to the speed of growth and is indebted in providing basic infrastructure for the welfare of the population, especially in the outlying areas, leaving the desire in some features, such as sanitation, transportation, education, etc.., resulting in a precarious way of life of the people who inhabit these certain areas. The author also presents some situations in which people migrate from the countryside to the city, but still work in the countryside and the people who migrate from the city to the countryside, but still work in the city, he said being in space, but out of place.
The parts of the book from which were extracted the above information addresses the issue of migration and its consequences, presenting coherently and objectively, providing a clear view on the matter, characterizing the book as essential for those who want to better understand the drivers of migration process and diversity effects can initiate this process.
